The European NCP_WIDERA.NET network is organising a webinar on 9 September 2026 to present funding opportunities under the EEA and Norway Grants for the period 2021– 2028, which will make €3.2 billion available to new Member States by 2032, as well as the role of the AdaptationHubs initiative in promoting cooperation, knowledge exchange and innovation across Europe. The event will be held in English.

The webinar will present the current funding opportunities for R&I projects, with a particular focus on bilateral cooperation between beneficiary/widening countries and donor countries.
Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway contribute, through the EEA and Norway, contribute to reducing economic and social disparities within the European Economic Area (EEA) and to strengthening cooperation with European countries. Financial support is provided to 15 countries in Central, Eastern and Southern Europe. The EEA and Norway Grants place great emphasis on the sharing and exchange of experience between donor and beneficiary states. This aspect distinguishes them from EU funds. Support is provided for projects focusing primarily on science and research, environmental protection, cultural heritage and cultural cooperation, public health, education and judicial cooperation. Great emphasis is placed on human rights, the inclusion of the Roma and the development of civil society. A number of successful bilateral activities and meetings are also taking place during the current programming period.
This year’s call for proposals for the Czech Republic is open to civil society organisations. The main areas on which the call focuses are:
- insufficient cooperation between public administration institutions and civil society organisations, and the failure to take account of the expertise and data provided by organisations when formulating public policies
- low levels of civic participation and insufficient support for community development, particularly in structurally disadvantaged regions
- significant pressure on the independent press and other actors defending democratic principles
- a rise in disinformation, hate speech and myths – particularly in connection with the invasion of Ukraine – and low levels of media and digital literacy, which exacerbate the social and digital exclusion of vulnerable people
