The European Partnership on Transforming Health and Care Systems (THCS)—a partnership aimed at supporting the transition to more sustainable, resilient, and high-quality health care systems focused on people’s needs—will launch a joint transnational call for proposals in mid-November 2026 titled “ Transforming the Health and Care Workforce for Sustainable and Resilient Systems“.
The goal of the call is to support research and innovation focused on the practical implementation of results, which will accelerate the adoption, adaptation, testing, evaluation, and scaling up of approaches to transforming the workforce in health care and in care sectors, based on available scientific knowledge and evidence.
Project proposals should go beyond the scope of individual, uncoordinated measures and support the implementation and scaling up of comprehensive workforce solutions. These solutions should strengthen the capacity of health and care systems to recruit, train, effectively engage, and retain qualified workers. They should also build on existing knowledge, initiatives, and examples of good practice, avoid duplicating activities already carried out, and demonstrate how workforce transformation can contribute to the transition toward population-centered health care. At the same time, they should utilize implementation science approaches to identify barriers and facilitating factors for the implementation, sustainability, scalability, and transferability of the proposed solutions.
National rules and conditions for Czech applicants are currently being prepared; these will be based on the Program to Support Applied Health Research for 2024–2030: Subprogram 3: European Partnerships in Health, and will be published on the AZV ČR website by the call for proposals deadline. We recommend regularly checking the website AZV ČR – Czech Health Research Agency (azvcr.cz) as well as the official call website here.
The Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic will support Czech applicants through a national budget allocation. The total amount available for this call will be 500,000 EUR. The standard project duration for Czech principal investigators is a maximum of 3 years / 36 months. All projects will be funded under the Program to Support Applied Health Research for the period 2024–2030 and must therefore be completed no later than December 31, 2030, as the program itself ends on that date.
Interested parties and potential applicants who would like to learn more about this call for proposals under the THCS program can participate in an online webinar, which will take place on December 2, 2026 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
More information on the call’s objectives, topics, general conditions, and consortium composition, as well as other specific conditions, is available on the official website EP THCS and in the supporting document HERE.
