The Technology Agency of the Czech Republic has published the preliminary parameters for the 4th public call for proposals under the Program to Support Applied Research and Innovation – THÉTA 2. This call is focused on fulfilling the vision of transforming and modernizing the energy sector in accordance with approved strategic documents. The announcement of the public call is scheduled for August 26, 2026.
The THÉTA 2 Program’s public call for proposals is aimed at fulfilling the vision of transforming and modernizing the energy sector in accordance with approved strategic documents.& nbsp;Support is directed toward applied research, development, and innovation, with an emphasis on three key pillars: streamlining management processes in the field of public administration, the development of new technologies with the potential for rapid practical application, and long-term technological perspectives that reflect approved strategic concepts.
The fourth public call for proposals will be announced under three subprograms:
- Subprogram 1 focuses on topics that take into account fundamental and interrelated trends in the energy sector—namely decarbonization, decentralization, digitization, and democratization—from the perspective of the public interest. It will also emphasize interdisciplinary technical areas, i.e., the interaction and interconnection of the energy sector with other sectors.
- Subprogram 2 focuses on the development of technologies and solutions that can be rapidly implemented in practice. The supported technologies and technological solutions should contribute to meeting the Czech Republic’s climate, energy, and environmental goals, particularly in the short- and medium-term. Support will focus on both new and traditional areas where research and development in the Czech Republic is already at the European and global level or can significantly leverage competitive advantages.
- Subprogram 3 is focused on supporting projects that develop technologies and solutions which, at the time of project proposal, are at a lower technology readiness level (TRL, typically 3 to 5) and for which rapid practical application of the results is not primarily expected.
