Tours in the building
The Palacký University Library has been regularly joining the accompanying programme of the European Heritage Days in Olomouc for several years. This year, the second weekend of September (September 9 and 10), the Zbrojnice (Armoury) will be exceptionally open for individual public tours and study—both days from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
In the accompanying programme of the Days of European Heritage, when the gates of important monuments and historical objects are open every year, the Palacký University Library, specifically its Central Library located in the historical premises of the Terezian Armoury, has its place every year. The doors of the Armoury will be opened to the public on the second weekend of September (Saturday, 9 and Sunday, 10 September). On both days, those interested can individually walk through the premises of the Central Library in Zbrojnice, and at the main lending desk, view and leaf through rare prints from the 16th - 19th centuries. Two exhibitions will also be displayed: "Law and we" and "Moments". On the windows of the Armoury, you can still admire the "site-specific" project of the Slovak visual artist Jara Varga, which he created in cooperation with the Olomouc Art Museum and the SEFO Triennale 2021. It is called "Return to the New World".On the ten window drawings, it reminds us of today's Olomouc in the background missionary activities of the Czech Jesuits abroad. We will also organise commented tours on request.
