On 1 September 2026, the International Visegrad Fund will open its third round of funding for projects focused on regional cooperation between the countries of the Visegrad Four. International consortia comprising at least two to three partners from the V4 countries – including non-profit organisations, local authorities, educational institutions and companies (provided the project retains its non-profit nature) – are eligible to apply for funding. The aim of the fund is to support innovative projects that transcend national borders, connect people in the region and bring about tangible improvements in the area in question.
Timetable for the third round of the International Visegrad Funds:
1 September 2026, 12:00 – Call for applications opens
1 October 2026, 12:00 – Deadline for submitting applications
21 December 2026, 12:00 – Publication of results
What types of grants does the International Visegrad Fund offer?
Visegrad Grants
- They support regional cooperation in the Visegrad region. (Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia)
- Projects must ensure meaningful cooperation and the active involvement of at least 3 organisations from at least 3 V4 countries (however, it is recommended to aim for the full participation of all 4 V4 countries)
- The maximum duration of a project is 18 months.
- Projects must meet at least one of the objectives of the seven defined priority areas.
- Grants cover up to 100 per cent of eligible costs (including 15 per cent overheads).
- The usual grant amount ranges between 25,000 and 35,000 EUR.
Visegrad Grants+
- Projects contributing to democratisation and transformation in selected countries: Western Balkans (WB: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia) and Eastern Partnership regions (EaP: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine).
- The project must involve:
- a) at least 3 organisations from 3 V4 countries and at least 1 organisation from a WB or EaP country – provided that the coordinator (applicant) is from a V4, WB or EaP country; or
- b) at least 2 organisations from 2 V4 countries and 2 organisations from 2 WB or EaP countries – if the coordinator (applicant) is from a WB or EaP country; or
- c) at least 2 organisations from 2 V4 countries and 1 organisation from Ukraine.
- Projects should be implemented in WB or EaP countries and/or have a significant impact on local communities in at least one of these countries.
- The maximum duration of projects is 18 months.
- Projects must meet at least one of the objectives of the seven defined priority areas.
- Grants cover up to 100 per cent of eligible costs (including 15 per cent overheads).
- The usual grant amount ranges between 25,000 and 35,000 EUR.
Strategic Grants
- Strategic grants support projects focused on the Visegrád Group’s annual strategic priorities. (The strategic priorities are announced each year by the V4 country holding the rotating presidency for that year.)
- Entities from all four V4 countries must be involved in the project.
- These are larger-scale projects intended for experienced project leaders.
- The project lasts between 12 and 36 months.
- It must address one of the V4 Group’s annual strategic priorities.
- Priorities for 2026:
- V4@35: Generation Future (focusing on academic mobility, joint educational platforms, and discussions on the future of the V4 – with an emphasis on people born after the V4 countries joined the EU and the Schengen Area)
- Smart & Sustainable Cities in the V4 Region (focusing on the efficient use of energy, transport, water resources, emission reduction, and environmental protection)
- Facilitating research and development cooperation in the region (focusing on innovation and knowledge sharing amongst the Visegrad countries, Eastern Partnership and Western Balkan countries)
- Grants cover up to 100 per cent of eligible costs (including 15 per cent overheads).
- The typical grant amount is between 35,000 and 45,000 EUR.
Project proposals are submitted via the My Visegrad portal at any time during the application period.& Project proposals may be discussed directly with Fund staff by prior arrangement. However, consultations must take place no later than 14 days before the deadline. A maximum of two consultations may be provided for each project proposal, based on a preliminary project proposal.
