We are proud to share that our Head of the Welcome Office, Alena Vyskočilová, represented our institution at the 1st Staff Welcome Centers Forum, held on 15–16 May 2025 in Lublin, Poland.

This inaugural event brought together professionals from academia, public administration, and the broader EURAXESS network, all united by a shared mission: enhancing the support and experience of international researchers across Europe. Conducted in both Polish and English, the forum welcomed a diverse and international audience.

The first day began with opening remarks, followed by a panel discussion on the challenges and future directions of supporting international researchers. The discussion highlighted the vital role of institutional networks, particularly EURAXESS, in fostering coordinated and effective support systems.

Later in the afternoon, participants heard presentations of best practices from Polish and international universities, showcasing various approaches to hosting and integrating international academic staff.

The second day focused on hands-on collaboration and skill-building. It featured a working session of the International Staff Welcome Points expert group, held within the framework of the IROs Forum, where institutions exchanged strategies and coordinated future efforts. The event concluded with an intercultural communication workshop, helping participants strengthen their understanding of cultural diversity and enhance the inclusivity of their welcome services.

Organized as part of the GO INternational, go Great! project at UMCS and supported by the Welcome to Poland NAWA program, the forum created a dynamic space for professional exchange and international cooperation.

Participation in this event reinforces our office’s commitment to continuously improving the experience of international researchers and aligning our efforts with leading European standards in academic mobility and support.
