The second workshop in the "Return to Science" series will focus this time on balancing everyday life and a scientific career.
Balancing a Scientific Career
May 29, 2026, 8:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Large Conference Room, UP Rector’s Office (online participation will be available if necessary).
Abstract
The academic environment places high demands on individuals. Publication pressure, teaching, project management, administration, and the expectation of constant availability often lead to chronic overload and feelings of guilt when we “aren’t working hard enough.” This workshop is designed for female and male academics returning from a career break who are looking for a way to fully reintegrate into professional life without sacrificing their personal lives and inner well-being.
During the workshop, we will work together to:
- map individual needs and the current balance between work and personal life,
- identify key sources of stress in academic work,
- work with personal values and priorities as a compass for decision-making,
- create realistic, concrete, and measurable steps toward change,
- share effective strategies and best practices with other participants.
We will take away:
- our own “map” of professional and personal roles,
- an individual action plan for the coming weeks,
- a set of simple coaching questions that they can use for themselves and within their teams.
