Dear colleagues,

Alumni September, a month dedicated to all Palacký University alumni – including many of you – will begin in Olomouc next week. Its highlight will be the Alumni Homecoming on the weekend of 11–12 September. In addition to opportunities to meet fellow alumni, it will offer a programme for the whole family, inspiring discussions, cultural performances, tours of university premises as part of the European Heritage Days and dozens of other activities connecting alumni, the university and the city of Olomouc. Take a look at the packed programme and make use of the many benefits available.

With the start of the new academic year approaching, we also have more important information, invitations and calls for you. You can refresh your memory of the academic year schedule (in Czech) on the website or check the new academic planner.

WHAT’S GOING ON AT UP

News from the dormitories and canteens

  • New menu arrangement in the canteens
From September, navigating the canteen menu will be easier. Meals from the following categories will always appear in the same position: 1. Czech and international cuisine; 2. FIT meals; 3. meat-free meals; 4. low-cost meals.

  • Nutritional information on meals now also available in WebKredit and MobilKredit 2
Would you like to choose your canteen meal according to both your taste and your current needs? It is now easier to do so. WebKredit and MobilKredit 2 now provide nutritional information for individual meals, including energy value and the amounts of fat, carbohydrates and protein. This gives you a better idea of a meal’s composition before ordering and lets you choose according to your preferences and needs. Find out more on the Accommodation and Dining Services website.

  • New AlzaBox in Neředín: In addition to the previously announced AlzaBox at Envelopa, you can now also find an AlzaBox next to the UP canteen in Neředín.

  • The Neředín canteen will reopen on 1 September (Mon–Fri, 11:00–14:00).

  • The Křížkovského canteen will be closed on Thursday, 3 September 2026 due to a university event.

What is it like for you to work at Palacký University? What works well, and where do you see room for improvement? You now have an opportunity to help shape the university’s next Equal Opportunities Plan. Complete the anonymous survey, whose results will provide one of the main sources of information for the university’s future approach to equal opportunities and the working environment. The survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete, and the deadline has been extended to 8 September 2026. Further details are available in the article.

Focus groups addressing the same topic will also take place in September. They will be led by an external company and the results will be processed anonymously.
