Two days to revisit the past—and experience something new!
Mark September 11–12, 2026, on your calendar and return to your alma mater.
A weekend awaits you where you’ll reconnect with classmates, familiar places will come alive, and the university will reveal itself in a slightly different light than you remember.
Alumni Homecoming 2026
Let us know you are coming!
By filling in the form before the event, you will make registration during the alumni gathering easier. On the day of the event, simply give your name to our ambassadors at the faculties or in front of the UPoint university shop, and in return you will receive an alumni badge, which will allow you to enjoy many benefits across Olomouc. It is as simple as that!
Friday, 11 September
Starting Informally — and Competitively
We will kick off the alumni gathering exactly the way we like it — together. A Pub Quiz will take place in the main UP canteen on 17. listopadu Street, where you can put together a team, brush up on your knowledge, and, most importantly, meet again. The first beer, the first laughs, the first “do you remember this?” — the perfect start to the weekend.
Team registration will open soon.
Saturday, 12 September
The Programme Begins and Ends in the Heart of the City (English friendly)
From the morning, registration and the first stop of the day will take place at Horní náměstí in Olomouc, near the university shop UPoint. There, you can pick up your alumni badge, register for the gathering and the Alumni Club, and get into the mood for the programme ahead.
If you do not make it to the city centre, do not worry — you will also be able to register for the Alumni Club directly at individual faculties, where our student ambassadors will be ready to help you with everything.
During the alumni gathering, Horní náměstí will also come alive with a rich cultural programme as part of European Heritage Days. The programme will include special activities prepared directly for our alumni:
- 17:00–18:00 Mixed Chamber Choir Ateneo
- 18:45–19:30 Marcell & Fidlerski
- 19:30–19:50 Welcome by the Rector and introduction of the UP Endowment Fund
- 20:45–21:30 New Street Band
After visiting university faculties, meeting former classmates, and returning to your student years, you can end the day in style right in the heart of Olomouc.
Konvikt as a Meeting Place (English friendly)
For one day, Palacký University’s Konvikt will be transformed into a lively centre of alumni activities. You can look forward to:
- concerts, theatre, and a pleasant atmosphere
- a discussion with inspiring guests
- a programme for families with children
- a chill zone where you can simply meet and spend time together
- a selection of the best films from the 61st AFO festival
- alumni benefits for you directly at Konvikt and across Olomouc
Faculties as You Remember Them — and as You Have Never Seen Them Before (English friendly)
- ceremonial Silver Graduations at the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Law
- guided tours of Faculty of Medicine buildings that are not usually open to the public
- the presentation of Dean’s Awards to those who spread the good name of the Faculty of Arts (closed event)
This is the day when you can return to the very places where you once sat in lecture halls and see what has changed since then.
Come back for a while. Walk through familiar corridors. Meet the people you experienced it all with. And remind yourself that some connections simply do not end with graduation.
Family Programme
Family Programme: A Morning for Children and Adults (English friendly)
Throughout the morning programme, visitors will be able to try out various activities that engage both the body and the mind. At the end, they can refresh themselves with an unusual ice cream made with liquid nitrogen.
Bouncy Castle and Play Corner for Children by Já sám/Zajásám Café and Playroom (English friendly)
The youngest visitors have not been forgotten. A play corner and bouncy castle by Já sám/Zajásám Café and Playroom, located on Horní náměstí, will be prepared for them in the Konvikt courtyard.
Face Painting — or Even Beard Painting (English friendly)
Come and complete your alumni look. Face painting, glitter, temporary tattoos, and sparkling decorations will be available. Visitors can decorate not only their faces, but also their hands, neckline, hair — and the more daring gentlemen can even decorate their beards.
What Does Ice Cream Made with Liquid Nitrogen Taste Like? (English friendly)
Ice cream and liquid nitrogen? It may sound unusual, but visitors are sure to enjoy it. Come to the Konvikt courtyard and see one of the most popular experiments — loved by both children and adults.
Student Organisation UPCrowd Will Introduce Visitors to the World of Natural Sciences and Experiments (English friendly)
Have you ever wondered what it feels like to hold real fire in your hands without getting burned? The UPCROWD association invites curious children and enthusiastic adults to take part in a programme that will spark their interest in science. Visitors can also look forward to a strange substance that cannot quite decide whether it is liquid or solid. And that is far from all — a whole range of other experiments from the world of natural sciences will be prepared.
Archery with Coaches from Akademik Sport Centrum (English friendly)
Whether visitors are experienced archers or holding a bow for the first time, there is no need to worry. Instructors from Akademik Sport Centrum will be ready at Konvikt to guide them through the whole process of shooting. Bows and arrows will be available to borrow on site.
The Human Body in the Spotlight with the Faculty of Physical Culture (English friendly)
At the Faculty of Physical Culture station, visitors will be able to try out what the human body is capable of and discover how challenging even seemingly simple movement tasks can be. Activities will include handgrip strength measurement, vertical jump, a balance labyrinth, step counting, and tasks focused on fine motor skills and movement coordination. Some activities will test strength, others balance, accuracy, or hand coordination — but above all, they will offer plenty of fun.
Basic Resuscitation in Cooperation with the Medical Students’ Association (English friendly)
Do you know the basics of first aid? Even if only vaguely, that is perfectly fine. Medical students from the Faculty of Medicine will teach visitors everything they need to know. Participants will be able to try assisted resuscitation or learn how to bandage an injury.
Music
Music Programme: From Folklore to the Evening Concert (English friendly)
Music will be a natural part of the atmosphere throughout the day, both at the Palacký University Konvikt and in the centre of Olomouc. Come and enjoy live performances, discover new artists, and experience a day that will sound exactly as it should.

Ateneo (English friendly)
12 September 2026, 17:00–18:00 | Horní náměstí
The mixed chamber choir Ateneo will bring music to Horní náměstí that combines precise vocal work with sensitive interpretation. Made up of experienced singers, the ensemble focuses on a wide repertoire across genres – from classical choral works to modern arrangements and contemporary compositions.
Their performance will offer a calmer musical pause in the middle of the Alumni Day programme, creating space to stop for a moment and let the music flow through the open space of the square.
Marcell & fiedlerski (English friendly)
12 September 2026, 18:45–19:30 | Horní náměstí
The evening highlight of the programme will be Marcell — a Palacký University alumnus returning to Olomouc with his current project alongside producer fiedlerski. Their music combines strong emotions with lightness and a modern sound. Following a successful debut, they return with the new album PIZZA PIVO DOLCE VITA, bringing energy, perspective, and catchy melodies.
New Street Band (English friendly)
12 September 2026, 20:45–21:30 | Horní náměstí
New Street Band will fill Horní náměstí with energy, naturally closing the Saturday music programme. The band builds on a strong live sound, catchy arrangements, and a repertoire that combines modern pop-rock elements with funk and soul influences.
Their concert will bring a relaxed evening atmosphere, smoothly following the main concert block and creating the ideal musical transition into the final part of the alumni gathering.
UP after hours (English friendly)
21:00–00:00 | Konvikt UP
As night falls, Konvikt will come alive. Visitors can look forward to an evening party with a DJ, a relaxed atmosphere, and a chance to experience the university a little differently — this time without a timetable.

UPportunities
12 September 2026, 16:30–18:00, Chapel of Corpus Christi, Konvikt UP
Some went abroad to study, others for work or adventure. This special edition of the UPportunities discussion, held as part of the Palacký University alumni gathering, will bring together alumni who set out into the world and now share their experiences from abroad and their professional journeys.
The inspiring panel discussion in the Chapel of Corpus Christi will feature Adam Matěj, who spent part of his doctoral studies in Washington, Markéta Kluková from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Veronika Fontaine, who has experience from France and European institutions in Brussels, and Petr Opršal, an alumnus working at the European Commission and the author of detective novels.
AFO
Echoes of the 61st Academia Film Olomouc Festival at Konvikt
Saturday’s programme will also include a unique film experience in cooperation with Academia Film Olomouc, the international festival of science documentary films organised by Palacký University since 1966.
Throughout the day on 12 September, the Film Hall at Konvikt will come alive with a selection of outstanding documentary films from this year’s 61st edition of AFO. The programme will feature films that received the main festival awards as well as titles that strongly resonated with audiences — in short, a showcase of some of the most interesting works currently offered by the science documentary genre.
For many visitors, the programme will also be an opportunity to return for a moment to the atmosphere of AFO, recall the energy of festival screenings, and once again immerse themselves in the world of science, powerful topics, and compelling filmmaking.
Films and Screenings
13:00 | Seafarers of Prehistory
Czech Republic | 2025 | 52 min. | Director: Tomáš Kratochvíl | AFO 2026 Award for Best Czech and Slovak Science Communication Film
Archaeology is not always just about digging in the ground. Sometimes, it also requires experimentation. Czech archaeologist Radomír Tichý took this idea seriously and assembled an expedition that carved a boat from a tree trunk in the hope of sailing across the Aegean Sea. But the journey is demanding, and the month-long voyage has more than one challenge in store for the crew. After all, if agricultural life existed on both shores of the sea and on many islands between them as early as 7,000 BC, then people must have found a way to get there — perhaps exactly like this.
14:30 | Smoke
Czech Republic | 2025 | 52 min. | Director: Robin Kvapil | Special Mention of the Jury in the Czech and Slovak Competition, AFO 2026
More than 1,500 people are serving sentences in Czech prisons for growing cannabis. A documentary filmmaker and a journalist investigate whether the judicial system is failing in these cases — as sentencing methods lag behind science and current approaches in addiction studies. Courts punish hypothetical profit that never actually occurred. Is it necessary for three young men to spend eight years in a high-security prison for thirty plants? Smoke opens a debate that has long been waiting for its place in the Czech Republic.
16:00 | Nuisance Bear (English friendly)
United States | 2026 | 89 min. | Directors: Gabriela Osio Vanden, Jack Weisman | AFO 2026 Award for Best International Popular Science Film
The town of Churchill in Canada calls itself the polar bear capital of the world. Accelerating climate change is delaying the freezing of the bay, and the ancient predator is becoming a “nuisance”. Osio Vanden and Weisman expand their award-winning short documentary, presented at AFO 2022, and follow polar bears as they wander through a world of tourists, conservationists, and hunters. An Inuit narrator reflects on generational changes in the long coexistence between humans and bears in this remote corner of the planet. The film powerfully explores both human and bear perspectives.
18:00 | Phenomena: When Elements Dance (English friendly)
Australia | 2026 | 86 min. | Director: Josef Gatti | AFO 2026 Award for Best International Popular Science Film for Science Communication and AFO 2026 Audience Award
Chemical reactions, physical forces, light refracting through matter — everything is real, captured by cameras and honest filmmaking. Phenomena is a psychedelic journey into the structure of the universe, guided by filmmaker Josef Gatti’s curiosity and accompanied by electronic music by Nils Frahm and Rival Consoles. Hypnotic experiments reveal patterns that connect atoms with galaxies. An accessible film about the breathtaking nature of the universe. Pure fascination. This is cinema.
