Career Menu for Your Future
UP Career Day is an all-day university event for anyone who’s studying, wondering what’s next, and looking for their way into the world of work. Think of it as a career menu: you can mix and match what suits your current situation, tastes, and professional plans – whether you’re currently at university or you’ve already graduated. Most of all, it’s about what’s truly valuable: practical tips from people who know the job market first-hand. Expect inspiration, shared experience, and skills you can use in any field. The programme blends discussion, hands-on workshops, and one-to-one advice, reflecting what’s happening right now in work, education, and personal development.
Our main course is a panel discussion on the future of work and learning. On the side, you can choose from themed workshops – your practical tasting platter of career skills – focused on networking, agility, and building (and keeping) professional connections. Each part of the programme is designed as a well-thought-out course; together they make up a varied career menu and help you get a clearer feel for today’s job market. We’ll also set the table for “Future Tables”: open, roundtable conversations with HR professionals and practitioners, with plenty of room for honest questions and real-world insights.
All day long, you’ll find a Career Advice Zone – your place for a quick check-in or a consultation. You can polish your professional profile, fine-tune your CV or LinkedIn, and get ready for interviews, internships, and whatever comes next. We’ll also be recording a live podcast on how not to lose your head when you work with friends (with Zuzana Dalibor and Terézia Ferjančeková, known from the Czech podcasts Vyhonit ďábla and Přátelení).
To round things off, there’ll be informal networking, a chill-out area with a photo booth and an inspiration wall, and a prize giveaway. And the cherry on top? You won’t just leave with ideas – you’ll leave with real contacts and concrete next steps you can put into practice straight away.
Career Day is open to all current students and alumni who want to explore their options, pick up practical tips, meet new people, and create their own recipe for the future.
The event is organised by the Career Centre, which supports Palacký University students during their studies and helps them with what comes next. The Centre offers one-to-one consultations and coaching, support with CVs and cover letters, and interview practice. It also runs workshops and practical courses to develop key skills and build resilience, organises career events, and connects students with employers and hands-on opportunities. On top of that, it shares information about job openings, internships, and further professional development.
