II International Conference of Moral Theologians from Central Europe

11. December 2026, 9:00–18:00

Following the success of the first edition, the International Conference of Moral Theologians from Central Europe will take place again this year, on 11 December 2026. The theme of this year's conference will be The Life and Legacy of St Alphonsus Maria de Liguori, marking the 330th anniversary of his birth (1696) and the 300th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood (1726). The conference will therefore focus on a specific chapter in the history of moral theology. In addition to scholars from the Czech Republic, the programme will feature contributions from theologians from abroad. I am pleased that, among others, the following scholars have confirmed their participation: the Polish Redemptorist Fr Antoni Karaś, Ph.D., whose research has long focused on St Alphonsus's understanding of conscience; Dr Branka Gabrić from Würzburg; Associate Professor Janusz Podzielny from Opole; Dr Hendrik Weingärtner from Vienna; and others.

The conference is primarily intended for the academic community, but it is also open to anyone interested in questions of moral theology in a broader context. As last year, the working language will be English. There is no conference fee, and no prior registration is required.

Everyone is most cordially invited! In addition to Czech-speaking participants, international students are also warmly welcome.
