TA ČR announced the third public competition in subprogram 3 Environmental and Climate Challenges in the Long Term (PP3)

The Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (hereinafter referred to as "TA CR") announced, in cooperation with the Ministry of the Environment, on December 17, 2025, the third public competition in the the Program for the Support of Applied Research and Innovation in the Field of the Environment, Climate Protection, and Sustainable Development – Environment for Life 2.

The Environment for Life 2 program focuses on supporting projects whose research will be conducted primarily in thematic areas where the greatest global pressures on the environment arise, i.e., natural resources, global change, the circular economy and more.. Subprogram 3 is focused on supporting more time- and knowledge-intensive solutions based on long-term monitoring of social, climatic, environmental, natural, and other changes and trends. The specific focus of this public competition is determined by the so-called research topics. Each project proposal must address one of the research topics.

 

Research topics set by the Ministry of the Environment:

Research topics must be reserved in advance on behalf of Palacký University (UP). A single applicant (acting as either the lead applicant or a project partner) may participate in no more than one project proposal per selected research topic.

  • Climate change and its impacts in the Czech Republic
  • Water in nature, in the environment, water use in society
  • Biodiversity and landscape in context (RESERVED)
  • Protection and restoration of soil ecosystem functions (RESERVED)
  • The rock environment of the Czech Republic and the sustainable use of mineral resources
  • Air quality as a fundamental factor in the development of society
  • Material flows, circular economy, and waste (RESERVED)
  • Industrial ecology and resilience and preparedness to deal with accidents and disasters
  • Research into the impact of environmental policies in the Czech Republic (RESERVED)
  • Research into the possibility of decarbonizing the economy and developing clean industry in the Czech Republic

 

The competition period begins on December 18, 2025, at 9:00 a.m.

The competition period ends on March 4, 2026, at the times specified below:

  • 4:29:59 p.m.  – is the latest possible time for submitting a project proposal via the SISTA information system;
  • 11:59:59 p.m. – is the latest possible time for sending documents proving eligibility, which must be sent separately by each applicant.

 

This public competition will be announced in the shared information system of the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic – SISTA. 

  • UP is already registered in the SISTA system. For the purposes of project registration, we would like to point out that it is necessary to make the project proposal available at the following e-mail address: ludmila.hrabakova@upol.cz. Without this step, it will not be possible to ensure adequate cooperation from UP when submitting the project proposal. Projects in which UP acts only as a partner must also be made available.
  • Without sending the project to the above email address, it is not possible to see who is responsible for the UPOL project.
  • We also ask the R&D department to provide a template for submitting a project proposal in a specific competition.
  • A sworn statement on behalf of UPOL will be sent.

For applicants to the third public competition of the Environment for Life 2 program, PP3, TA ČR will hold an online information webinar. We will announce the date of the webinar on the PS UP website and social networks.
