Switzerland becomes an associated country in the Horizon Europe program

Wednesday 12 November 2025, 9:26

On November 10, 2025, the Agreement on EU Programs (EUPA) was signed in Bern between Switzerland and the European Union. The agreement, which took effect immediately, ensures Switzerland's retroactive association with the Horizon Europe, Euratom, and Digital Europe from January 1, 2025. From 2026, the country will also join the ITER program, and in 2027, it plans to join the Erasmus+ program. Swiss entities can thus once again participate fully in European projects, including the possibility of acting as coordinators in collaborative calls. Participation in individual grants, such as ERC projects, EIC projects, and MSCA postdoctoral fellowships, has also been resumed. Projects will be funded directly by the European Commission.
