On November 25, 2025, the Ministry of Health published a joint transnational call for proposals from the EP PerMed (European Partnership for Personalized Medicine) partnership: Personalized Medicine for CARdiovascular, MEtabolic, and kidNey diseases ("CARMEN 2026"). The call is open to applicants from research organizations, companies, and patient organizations. Interested parties can participate in an international information webinar to be held on December 16, 2025 (10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. CET).
The EP PerMed partnership call: "CARMEN 2026" aims to:
- Develop and validate new personalized treatment approaches for cardiovascular and metabolic diseases or kidney diseases through testing in relevant preclinical models. nbsp;(e.g., human cell cultures, organoids, microbiological models mimicking organ function – so-called "organs-on-chips," disease-specific animal models, or in silico models).
- Identification and verification of molecular markers or advanced technologies that will enable monitoring of treatment response in patients with these diseases and thus better tailor treatment to individual patients.& nbsp;This may also include evaluating treatment efficacy, adverse effects (including those caused by multiple concomitant medications), and optimizing dosing.
- Identification and verification of markers or diagnostic technologies that will help to detect the risk of disease in a timely manner or prevent its worsening or the development of associated diseases in patients with cardiovascular, metabolic, or kidney diseases.
The national budget allocation for the call is EUR 250,000. The maximum amount of support per project is EUR 125,000.
