IHI Call 12 is expected to open in January, offering applicants new opportunities for IHI projects within the IHI strategic research and innovation program. In connection with the planned opening of the call, the IHI Partnership is organizing information days on January 19-20, 2026. IHI Call 12 is a standard single-round call. This means that applicants will have to ensure that half of their project costs are covered by in-kind contributions from IHI industrial members and (if necessary) from IHI contributing partners. The submission deadline for full proposals (FPs) will be 21/04/2026.
IHI Call 12 contains five topics, each focusing on one of the five specific objectives of the IHI JU (SO):
- Theme 1 (SO1): contribute towards a better understanding of the determinants of health and priority disease areas;
- Theme 2 (SO2): integrate fragmented health research and innovation efforts bringing together health industry sectors and other stakeholders, focusing on unmet public health needs, to enable the development of tools, data, platforms, technologies, and processes for improved prediction, prevention, interception, diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases, meeting the needs of end-users;
- Theme 3 (SO3): demonstrate the feasibility of people-centered, integrated healthcare solutions;
- Theme 4 (SO4): exploit the full potential of digitalization and data exchange in healthcare;
- Theme 5 (SO5): enable the development of new and improved evaluation methodologies and models for a comprehensive assessment of the added value of innovative and integrated healthcare solutions.
IHI Call 12 builds on the success of IHI Call 9, which was launched at the beginning of 2025 and piloted an applicant-oriented approach. Under IHI Call 12, proposals will need to align with the IHI philosophy. In other words, they will have to: address an unmet public health need; require a large-scale, ambitious, cross-sectoral public-private partnership; have a clearly described impact on society, the economy, and science; take into account the pre-competitive nature of IHI projects; and contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of the EU healthcare industry and the implementation of relevant EU policies.
