EEA and Norway Grants: Culture will remain one of the key areas of support in the new period

We reported on the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Czech Republic and Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein was reported in the November issue of the PS UP Informuje bulletin. The Czech Republic will receive over €225 million (approximately CZK 5.5 billion) under this program. Support will also be provided in the new, fourth programming period of the EEA and Norway Grants to projects focused primarily on cultural heritage and cooperation in culture, research and innovation, and support for the environment and sustainable development. Norway, will be given to projects focused primarily on cultural heritage and cooperation in culture, research and innovation, support for green transformation, public health, education, and the inclusion and empowerment of the Roma community. nbsp;A new feature in this period is the partial allocation of funds to projects related to challenges arising from the invasion of Ukraine. New opportunities for cooperation are also offered by the Fund for Bilateral Cooperation and support for the non-profit sector through the Civil Society Fund.

 

New projects in the field of culture will aim to strengthen participation, diversity, and accessibility of culture throughout the Czech Republic. Support will be provided to projects that increase public participation in cultural and community activities, projects that strengthen democracy, open dialogue, and resilience to disinformation, projects that revitalize cultural heritage and creating inclusive cultural and community centers, projects promoting cultural diversity, creativity, and international cooperation, and projects opening up culture to people with limited access, minorities, and people in vulnerable situations (including Roma).

Schedule for the preparation of the new period:

  • Program agreements are to be finalized within one year of signing, i.e., by November 2026.
  • The first calls for proposals are expected to be announced at the turn of 2026 and 2027. 
  • Project implementation will run until April 30, 2031.
