School's closed, university opens again...
Like last year, we want to open the university to the children of our employees again and offer them a programme during the Easter holidays. This programme is part of our ongoing efforts to support a better work-life balance at UP.
For school-age children, a leisure programme has been prepared at the Fort Science, AC Baluo, and the UP Library. They will spend the morning enjoying fun activities and then have the opportunity to tour their parents’ workplaces. A shared lunch in the cafeteria can be a pleasant way to conclude the programme, after which parents can continue working from home.
UP Library – Programme A
- When: 8:00–8:30 registration, 8:30–12:00 programme
- Age group: 9–12 years
- Capacity: 20 children
- Where: UP Library, Zbrojnice, Biskupské náměstí 1.
To provide children with a varied and entertaining program, the morning consists of two consecutive activities. The programme will run in parallel in two groups: one will start at the British Centre Library and then move on to AI Misschief-Maker (AI Nezbedníček).
The second group will follow this sequence in reverse, so that all children can experience both the search for book treasures and the playful exploration of the world of artificial intelligence.
Egg Hunt in the British Centre
The British Centre Library may be small in size, but it holds some real treasures! First, we’ll search for these (book) treasures with the children. Then we’ll relax by reading together in English. And finally, we’ll have our traditional Easter EGG HUNT, where no one will leave empty-handed. We look forward to kicking off Easter right here with us!
AI Mischief-Maker and the Secrets of Artificial Intelligence
Discover the fascinating world of artificial intelligence with our playful guide—AI Mischief-Maker! Together, we’ll play a Kahoot quiz, see how ChatGPT answers questions, and generate images and music. But watch out! Artificial intelligence can really blur the lines between reality and fiction. We’ll learn to spot fake news and how to use artificial intelligence smartly and safely. Get ready for a fun journey into the future!

Digital Adventures: Staying Safe in the Online World
What is personal data, and how can you protect it on your phone and computer? How do you create a strong password, and why is it important? What is a digital footprint, and how can we prevent it from being misused? How can we tell real information from fake information? What does freedom of speech on the internet mean, and where are its limits? Why is it important to be considerate online and respect others? What is cyberbullying, and how can we defend ourselves against it?
A Mystery Hidden in the Library: Join a treasure hunt featuring challenges, secret entrances, and hot chocolate
Discover the secrets of the Zbrojnice Library! A fun-filled tour awaits you, where you’ll complete tasks just like real librarians. You’ll collect clues, which you’ll then use to work together and solve the puzzle. You’ll get to see for yourselves if you can borrow a book, but also if, as “librarians in training,” you can return it and decode it. That’ll take a lot of energy, so we’ll have hot chocolate ready for you, and who knows what else you’ll find hidden in the depths of the library. In the clubhouse, we’ll settle into armchairs and test how well you know book characters, classic and modern fairy tales, and which book genres you can identify. Maybe you’ll even teach us something here. Don’t worry, there are no grades involved!

How were they dressed, and what animals did they encounter? We’ll find the answers to all these questions when we journey back together to the tough stone age!
Accompanying programme in a creative workshop
During the accompanying programme, we’ll embark on an adventurous journey through a prehistoric cave gallery that will introduce us to the daily lives of people back then. We’ll take a close look not only at a mammoth, but also at a giant moose or a woolly rhinoceros.

In the space between Mercury and Neptune, we’ll encounter a wide variety of planets and their moons, which couldn’t be more different from one another, yet the stories of their origins are intertwined. Is liquid water—one of the conditions for the origin of life—found on other planets? Together, we can get to the bottom of these questions!
