Start your scientific career with a course from the CAS (now also in English)

The Czech Academy of Sciences (CAS) is opening further sessions of the popular Foundations of Scientific Work Course designed for doctoral students across all disciplines. The program focuses on key practical skills – from academic writing and presenting results to working with professional resources, research ethics, research funding, and grant issues.

The following dates are scheduled for this year:

  • Brno (in Czech): October 19–22, 2026. Venue: Institute of Archaeology of the CAS, Čechyňská 19.

  • Prague (in English): November 30 – December 2, 2026. This year, for the first time, the course is available in English, making it an ideal opportunity for international PhD students as well as those who want to practice scientific communication in English.

Why apply?

  • Experienced lecturers: The course is led by experts from the Academy of Sciences and partner institutions.
  • Price: For PhD students, participation in the course is completely free of charge.
  • Networking: An opportunity to meet colleagues from other institutions and share experiences.

As the capacity of the courses is limited, we recommend applying as soon as possible.
