Update: Buildings activated for crisis notifications in UPlikace

Do you already have the UPlikace app, through which you can receive a crisis message targeted to a specific building in case of an emergency at UP? If not, read more and download. If you do, your selected buildings have been updated for the new semester as follows:

If you are a teacher, on Wednesday 1 October the buildings where you have active classes (scheduled events) in STAG during the winter semester were automatically activated for crisis notification. No buildings were automatically removed. You can manually adjust your active buildings at any time in the crisis communication settings (in the “More” menu), i.e., add others or remove those no longer relevant to you – places where you will no longer be present.

For non-academic staff, nothing changes automatically. You can manually adjust your selected buildings at any time in the crisis communication settings (in the “More” menu).

The modern FreshUP+ bistro will replace the uneconomical evening operation of the main canteen

Starting Monday, October 20, the brand-new university bistro at the Josef Jařab dormitory will offer not only the classic FreshUP assortment, but also quick dinners, pizza, pasta, and salads. FreshUP+ will have its own entrance from Šmeralova Street and will be open on weekdays from 2 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The adjacent main canteen will, on the other hand, end its afternoon operation (from 2:30 p.m.). Find out more on the SKM website.

New grants to help return to research after parental leave or illness

OSCO Talks Vol. I: Open Science first-hand! 

Every scientist has a story – and open science can open new possibilities for them. In autumn 2025, we are launching a new format of short lectures OSCO Talks within the Open Science Community Olomouc. Conference on Open Science and Research Data – in English!

The UP Research Support Department invites you to the national conference EOSC CZ 2025: Long Live Research Data, held on 2–3 December in Ostrava. The two-day programme will offer insight into open science – from managing and sharing research data to reusing them in practice. Expect plenary sessions, panel discussions, and interactive workshops led by Czech and international experts.

Compete in the UP Cross-Country Championships

The FTK UP Sports Department invites all endurance running enthusiasts from UP’s students and staff to the traditional sporting event on Wednesday 15 October. In the autumn Bezruč Park, women will compete over a 3 km course, men over 5.5 km, with the fastest also receiving the FTK UP Dean’s Prize in the form of a one-time sports scholarship. Talkshow “Žárovky” on the theme of Resilience

The Czech Radio Dvojka programme “Žárovky” comes to UP to discuss Resilience – the ability of people, science, and society to face challenges and find new ways forward. Hosts Pavla Hubálková and Jan Lukačevič will welcome Veronika Šedajová (RCPTM-CATRIN), Filip Šlapal (Faculty of Science OU) and Tomáš Malina (VŠB, CATRIN). NEW STANDARDS

• Return Grants at UP
  This internal UP regulation, effective from 1 October 2025, (in Czech) concerns UP employees and students. It sets rules and principles for return grants at UP, funded by OP JAK within the project Career Bridge to Success at UP, reg. no. CZ.02.01.01/00/24_037/0013751.

• Asset inventory procedures at UP in 2025
  This internal UP regulation, effective from 1 October 2025, (in Czech) is intended primarily for members of inventory commissions (ÚIK, HIK, DIK) and persons responsible for UP asset records and involved in inventory. It sets the timetable and conditions for the inventory process at UP in 2025, including further digitalisation.

All UP standards, including the ineffective ones, divided by UP units, with the possibility of filtering and searching in them can be found by students and employees of UP after logging in to files.upol.cz.
