As in previous years, proposals for awards are accepted by the science and research departments at individual faculties, and in the case of a university institute by its director. Renowned painter Aljo Beran is closely connected to UP as a teacher and played a major role in building its visual identity after its post-war restoration in 1946. His painting Athena with coat of arms became the model for the shield of our alma mater. The unique biography Life with the Scent of Turpentine. The Story of Aljo Beran is published by Palacký University Press in the UP Memory edition. The book launch will take place on Friday, September 26 from 17:00 at UPoint (in Czech), with participation of Aljo Beran's grandson and co-author Václav Čada among others.
