Dear employees,

Palacký University has a new management as of 1 May. Lawyer Michael Kohajda takes over the rector's scepter. He is replacing doctor Martin Procházka as head of the oldest Moravian university. Briefly from the UP management meeting

At the last management meeting (23 April), the publication of the courses leading to the micro-certificate in a publicly available online catalogue was discussed. The question of the possible display of students' photos to their teachers within the STAG system is being addressed. Read the full summary (in Czech) (after logging in to the UP Portal). The Rector's Office/Křížkovského Canteen will be closed from Monday 19 to Thursday 22 May for NATO meetings

Traffic restrictions on the Zbrojnice/Armoury and its surroundings on Wednesday 14 May

The rich programme of the Olomouc Majáles festival will require minor restrictions, a one-day parking ban on Biskupské náměstí and increased noise pollution. On Wednesday afternoon, the security of the Armoury area will be reinforced by the security service. The UP Library will also be closed from 12 noon, and from 1 p.m., the entrance fee (CZK 200) will be collected in both inner passages of the Armoury courtyard. More details on the UP Portal.

New issue of the UP Strategy and Quality Department newsletter

In the new issue of the newsletter, the Department of Strategy and Quality of the UP  (in Czech) provides an overview of the current development and subsidy programmes of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic. It also informs about the current activities in the field of sustainable development at the UP. The theme of the issue (in Czech) is an overview of the results of the Strategy and External Relations Department for the period 2021-2024.

Play sports with the university even during exam period

Even during exam time we have the opportunity to play sports at university prices from Monday to Friday with the Akademik Sport Center UP. Lighten up your head with karate, basketball, indoor cycling or canoeing. Pilates, yoga, healthy back exercises or dance are also on offer. Bring clothes, books or household items to the UP Majáles Swap

Tidy up your home before the end of term and bring to Sustainable University clothes, books and study materials and household items that you no longer use but are still functional and undamaged. Round table for data stewards

On 23 May 2025, from 9 to 11 a.m., the Grant Department of the Faculty of Arts in the framework of the EUVIP and RemoteXUAR projects is organizing a roundtable with data stewards Monika Bargmann and Michael Feichtinger from the University of Vienna and Annaki Eltén and Andrea Mervik from Lund University. This meeting will offer a unique opportunity to ask questions to experienced colleagues from abroad and find out what their daily practice looks like. The roundtable is designed for those who are already working as data stewards, or those who are preparing for or gradually entering this role. These questions will be addressed during a regular online meeting hosted by the COSY COST platform, which includes researchers from CATRIN - Petra Čechová, Petra Kührová, and Markéta Paloncýová.   • Principles of the competition for the Junior Grant of Palacký University in Olomouc
    This amendment to the UP internal standard, effective from 5 May 2025,
    (in Czech) is addressed to persons performing activities related to the competition for junior grants of Palacký University in Olomouc. It updates and clarifies the rules for awarding junior grants, in particular it changes the usual number of grants awarded for one scientific field and the maximum number of such grants awarded in one scientific field.

     

  • Education of employees and students on occupational health and safety at Palacký University in Olomouc
    This UP internal standard, effective from 5 May 2025, (in Czech) is addressed to all UP employees. It regulates the organisation and content of OSH training for employees, students and third parties operating at UP workplaces and sets out the obligations and binding procedures for conducting instruction, training and examinations in the field of OSH.

    All UP standards, including the ineffective ones, divided by UP units, with the possibility of filtering and searching in them can be found by students and employees of UP after logging in to files.upol.cz.
