WHAT’S GOING ON AT UP

Briefly from the UP management meeting

At the last management meeting (23 April), the publication of the courses leading to the micro-certificate in a publicly available online catalogue was discussed. The question of the possible display of students' photos to their teachers within the STAG system is being addressed. Read the full summary (in Czech) (after logging in to the UP Portal). More detailed information will subsequently be available in the minutes of the management meeting in UPShare, as well as in the minutes of other bodies, in UP standards and documents, and on other information platforms.

The Rector's Office/Křížkovského Canteen will be closed from Monday 19 to Thursday 22 May for NATO meetings

Employees and students can order lunch in any other UP canteen, choose from the FreshUP range in the adjacent building or take advantage of discounts in nearby restaurants. For more information, see the UP Portal.

Traffic restrictions on the Zbrojnice/Armoury and its surroundings on Wednesday 14 May

The rich programme of the Olomouc Majáles festival will require minor restrictions, a one-day parking ban on Biskupské náměstí and increased noise pollution. On Wednesday afternoon, the security of the Armoury area will be reinforced by the security service. The UP Library will also be closed from 12 noon, and from 1 p.m., the entrance fee (CZK 200) will be collected in both inner passages of the Armoury courtyard. More details on the UP Portal.

Fire protection, occupational health and safety, GDPR and cybersecurity in one place

Do you know where you can find the form for the injury report, the Rector's Office escape plan or the UP crisis phone contacts? Documents, guides, recommendations and the offer of consultations in the field of occupational health and safety, fire protection, cyber, physical and anti-virus security are clearly summarised on the new website of the Rector's Office Security Department (in Czech).

EDUCATION

UP launches new joint study programme focused on digital society

Digitalisation, artificial intelligence and new technologies are fundamentally changing the way we live, work and communicate. UP is therefore launching a follow-up Master's degree programme in Digital Society, Social Innovation and Global Citizenship (DIGISOC), prepared jointly with the Universities of Innsbruck and Naples. It will provide students with key skills for the future from the best experts from the three universities to understand not only technology but also its impact on society. Its accreditation was approved by UP's Internal Evaluation Board at the end of April, and applications are being accepted until the end of June.

ERA Chair Accelerator & San4fuel Summer School, June 16-20

CATRIN is organizing a summer school for students of Palacký University engaging primarily in science but also in humanities.  We've prepared a five-day programme packed with interesting workshops and lectures. It's aimed at everybody who wants to get new insights into technology transfer or innovative management. But not only these, we'll also touch upon topics like work-life balance or how to write a successful project proposal. On top of that, we'll equip you with new English-language skills, so that you'll be able to create a really good scientific presentation and communicate your science in general. All the lectures will be delivered in the English language. More information and registration.
