Dear students,

In today's newsletter we bring you lots of opportunities to get involved in the life of the university. You can nominate candidates for the Academic Senate or suggest who should give this year's Fischer Lecture. You will be invited to several lectures or talks and also to the upcoming Majáles and Sports Day. We offer scholarships or internships and there is also a popular competition.

WHAT'S GOING ON AT UP?

Briefly from the UP management meeting

At the last management meeting (29 March) nominations for the Fischer lecture and for the Academic Senate were discussed. The statutes of the Doctoral Programs Committee are being drafted. Read the full summary (after logging in the UP Portal) (in Czech), we will prepare another one for you in 14 days. More detailed information will subsequently be available in the minutes of the management meeting in UPShare, as well as in the minutes of other bodies, in UP standards and documents and on other information platforms.

Nominate candidates to the Academic Senate of UP

UP is already facing the election of a new Academic Senate at the beginning of May. The key governing body of the university, which approves its budget, revises university regulations and oversees events in dormitories and canteens, will be in office at UP from September for just under three years. Each member of the academic community now has the opportunity to nominate a representative of his or her faculty from among the faculty and students. More information can be found in this news (in Czech) and at upol.cz/volby.

TikTok is a threat to university systems

Extortion, fraudulent emails or theft of passwords and accounts can threaten TikTok users – especially if internal systems such as STAG or UPlikace app are accessed on the same device. Therefore, according to the UP Rector's instruction (in Czech), TikTok must not be installed on business phones. The management also appeals to individuals not to access STAG or UPlikace on private devices with TikTok. Read more in this news (in Czech).

Take the opportunity to invite an interesting personality to UP

Since 1994, a lecture has been held at the UP in honour of Prof. Josef Ludvík Fischer, who was the first rector of the UP after its restoration in 1946. Any student or employee of UP may submit a proposal for this year's candidate, and a short justification must be included in the proposal. It should be a prominent Czech or foreign personality from any scientific field. The selection is then decided by the Rector of UP on the proposal of the relevant university committee (in Czech). Take a look at the complete list of personalities (in Czech) who have delivered the Fischer Lecture at UP in the past – last year it was Dana Drábová (in Czech).

New bibliobox at Šlechtitelů
