On May 18, 2026, the premiere of the short film “Stav odpojen” took place at the Metropol cinema in Olomouc. The film was shot in Olomouc last summer, and as a student of the Department of Theatre and Film at Palacký University Olomouc, I had the opportunity to take part in the production as part of my internship.
Last summer, one of the professors from our department shared information about an open call for students to work on the set of an action film. Of course, I immediately applied — and that is how I ended up on a real professional film set.
The filming process was very intense and dynamic. One moment we had to search for missing props, the next moment the interns were used as extras, and a few minutes later I was helping the makeup artist spray fake blood onto the actors’ costumes. The shooting lasted six days, and every day brought completely new and sometimes unexpected tasks.
For example, during one of the filming days I worked as a lockup assistant, where my task was to stop trams during filming. Of course, everything was officially coordinated with the city administration, and a representative of the Olomouc public transport service was there with me.
And now, nine months after the filming ended, the film finally premiered. The screening took place in one of the oldest cinemas in the city — Metropol Cinema. Entrance to the premiere was strictly limited to invited guests, but despite that, the large cinema hall was completely full.
Almost everyone I had worked with during the production attended the premiere: actors, stunt performers, producers, and the entire film crew. Members of the special effects team from Germany were also present; they had helped execute one of the most complicated stunts in the film.
In the end, the film turned out to be very dynamic, full of action and fight scenes.
I am very grateful to my university for giving me the opportunity to participate in this project and gain experience on a real professional film set, rather than only working on student productions.
