The VedaVyzkum.cz portal has published an analysis entitled "How successful are Czech regions in obtaining support from Horizon Europe? ", which reveals interesting trends in the distribution of financial support in the regions of the Czech Republic. The largest relative shift in the share of financial support obtained belongs to the Ústí nad Labem Region. The Olomouc Region has also improved significantly, showing a long-term expansion of capacity and roles – growth that is structural and likely to be sustainable in the future.
Building on the H2020 program, in which Palacký University in Olomouc (UP) was strong across disciplines, continued in the HE program with a broader range of topics and tools and more frequent coordination. The RCPTM infrastructure played a key role in the H2020 program, and now CATRIN is particularly successful. The CATRIN center is responsible for a significant portion of the income in top schemes (e.g., ERC, EIC) and at the same time drives more MSCA lines (especially Postdoctoral Fellowships/Staff Exchanges, and in some cases Doctoral Networks). Material/2D and battery projects are mainly held by UP/CATRIN, biomedical topics are carried out by UP teams together with the Olomouc University Hospital, and railway mobility is provided on a long-term basis by OLTIS GROUP (Europe’s Rail). The result is double the volume compared to the H2020 program, a greater number of coordinations, and a broader thematic portfolio.
