Socialist Transnationality and the Transfer of Dutch Literature

6. October 2022, 9:30–15:30

International symposium

Sympozium on translations of Dutch and Flemish literature in Central and Eastern Europe (1945-1990). Also celebration of 75 years of Dutch literature in Moravia.

The symposium concerns the specific situation of the transfer of Dutch and Flemish literature in translation in Central and Eastern Europe in the period 1945-1990. During this period, departments of Dutch literature were springing up all over the area. There were high-quality translators, but at the same time, publishers everywhere were bound by the official ideology of socialist realism. The lectures address this tension. The lectures will be in Dutch. At the end of the day, we will celebrate as well the jubilee of 75 years of Dutch studiesin Moravia.
