Nikola Štoplová: Symbiosis

29. April 2024, 17:00–18:00

Opening of the exhibition

The artist has been focusing on nature and plants in her work, which brings her psychological well-being and arouses a lot of emotions in her. When creating, she lets herself be carried away by fascination with nature and its workings. She captures some of her own beliefs and ideas about the functioning of the symbiosis between plants. She deals with their coexistence, communication and energies between them, which she translates into her works. She observes plants and looks at them as one big whole that is connected and works together. In each piece we can see highlighted zones or lines between the plants that represents the aforementioned energy. Pollen or oxygen that circulates between them, even though we we don't notice it to the eye. The artist has been creating these abstracted forms of plants for a long time and now takes them as her personal means of self-expression and is looking for the right medium or technique. She is not afraid of experimentation, combining techniques and some unsuccessful attempts. All this belongs to the process of creation, that's why she doesn't want to show only the "perfect finished works" but also the ones through which she searched for the right method or technique. Because art is a process, she wants to acknowledge it here and let you have a slight insight into it.

Curator: Lenka Špannerová

The exhibition will run until 28 June.
