Moral economic dichotomizations in the Mongolian borderlands

23. April 2024, 15:00–16:30

Online lecture

We invite you to an online lecture based on the recently published book "Moral Economic Transitions in the Mongolian Borderlands: A Proportional Share" (June 2023, UCL Press), in which the author traces how rural residents became dependent on urban, consumer debt to finance livelihoods. Particular attention is paid to the illegal wildlife trade around Chinese medicinal plants.
The speaker, Hedwig Amelia Waters, is currently a MSCA-ERA postdoctoral fellow at
the Department of Asian Studies, UP.
The event is organized by the REMOTE XUAR project
