Leaving the country

Students who have finished their studies and plan to leave the Czech Republic should complete a few final steps before departure. Doing so also helps if you plan to visit the EU in the future.

Before You Go

  • Return your residence document (see “Departure Order” below).
  • Settle local obligations, including the municipal waste management fee and deregister from the register of payers of the waste collection fee.
  • Check your passport validity and keep copies of key documents.
  • Close your bank account.

Departure Order (Výjezdní příkaz)

A departure order lets you stay in the Czech Republic only for the time necessary to handle urgent matters and depart. You must hand in your long-term residence card/permit for the specific purpose (long-term or Schengen visas cannot be exchanged). The permitted stay is at least 30 days, unless stated otherwise.

When to Request

  • If you are leaving the country after your studies.
  • If your residence document has expired.

Sustainability (Free Shop)

Should a student decide to get rid of equipment or belongings that no longer fulfill a purpose in their lives, they are presented with the opportunity to contribute these items to the Free Shop. The Free Shop, a unique service provided within the institution, operates as a centralized hub where students can altruistically donate an array of equipment and clothing. These contributions, generously made by fellow students, form a pool of resources that are subsequently made accessible to other members of the student body. This initiative highlights the institution's commitment to resource-sharing and responsible consumption, showcasing its ethos of sustainability and compassion.

What You Can Donate

  • Clean clothing, shoes, accessories
  • Small household items (dishes, utensils, hangers)
  • Light dorm essentials (lamps, extension cords, stationery)

How It Works

  • Bring usable items to the Free Shop drop-off point.
  • Donations are made available free of charge to other students.
  • It’s a simple way to support resource-sharing and reduce waste.
