Extension of Long-Term Residency Permit

If you decide to submit the documents personally at the Ministry of Interior offices at the address Třída Kosmonautů 989/8, 779 00 Olomouc, you can either:

  1. Create an appointment through the Ministry of Interior portal for a specific date and not have to wait in the queue (downside is that the appointments are often booked for a long time ahead), or
  2. Go without an appointment, we recommend on either Tuesday or Thruday in the early morning hours (downside is that there is often a queue and you will have to wait your turn)

If you decide to send the documents by post

Place all the required documents in an envelope and send them as a registered letter to the address of the Ministry of Interior department: Pracoviště MV Odboru azylové a migrační politiky, třída Kosmonautů 989/8, 779 00 Olomouc. After approximately 5 days, send an email to pobyty@mvcr.cz. Include your name, surname, and date of birth, and request the reference number of your application. This number will allow you to track the progress of your application on the MOI website.

The student must submit the documents before the expiry date of their current residency permit. After their current residency permit expires, it can no longer be extended. The student can start the process of extension up to 120 days prior to the expiring of their current visa. We recommend starting as early as possible as the process can take up to three months.

Upon request provide also:

When submitting the documents in person, you wil be asked to pay an administrative fee of CZK 2,500 (payable only by card). 

When submitting the documents by mailgenerate a payment on the Ministry of Interior webpage and pay the administrative fee of 2,500 CZK, print out the confirmation of payment and add it into the envelope before sending it to the Ministry of Interior offices). 

You can track the status of your application using your reference number (provided during the appointment) on the Ministry of Interior website.

What is Next?

After the Ministry of Interior approves your documents, in time, you will receive an email specifying your date of biometric scanning appointment. Attend this appointment and your process will be completed. During this appointment, you will receive a date on which your residency document will be ready to be picked-up.
