Extension of a Long-Term Visa

Where to Extend
If you decide to submit the documents personally at the Ministry of Interior offices at the address Třída Kosmonautů 989/8, 779 00 Olomouc, you can either:
- Create an appointment through the Ministry of Interior portal for a specific date and not have to wait in the queue (downside is that the appointments are often booked for a long time ahead), or
- Go without an appointment, we recommend on either Tuesday or Thruday in the early morning hours (downside is that there is often a queue and you will have to wait your turn)
If you decide to send the documents by post:
Place all the required documents in an envelope and send them as a registered letter to the address of the Ministry of Interior department: Pracoviště MV Odboru azylové a migrační politiky, třída Kosmonautů 989/8, 779 00 Olomouc. After approximately 5 days, send an email to pobyty@mvcr.cz. Include your name, surname, and date of birth, and request the reference number of your application. This number will allow you to track the progress of your application on the MOI website.
When to Extend 
The student must submit the documents before the expiry date of their current visa. After their current visa expires, it can no longer be extended. The student can start the process of extension up to 90 days prior to the expiring of their current visa.
What to Submit 
- Application form
- Travel document
- Proof of accommodation
- Proof of Funds for the Stay (finances)
- Photograph if your appearance has changed
- Comprehensive medical insurance
Upon request also:
A proof of payment for the insurance stated on the proof of travel medical insurance Medical report An original of a confirmation of studies or confirmation of enrolment.
- This does not apply to study visits and volunteering. For study visits please provide necessary documents stipulated by law. For volunteering please provide the agreement with the host organisation.
When submitting the documents in person, you wil be asked to pay an administrative fee of CZK 1,000 (payable only by card). When submitting the documents by mail, generate a payment on the Ministry of Interior webpage and pay the administrative fee of 1,000 CZK, print out the confirmation of payment and add it into the envelope before sending it to the Ministry of Interior offices).
Can not extend anymore? Transfer!

If you have already reached the 12-month period and cannot extend your visa anymore, you can always transfer from a Long-Term Visa to a Long-Term Residency Permit. The process is very similar to the extension of the visa but the documents differ.
And most importantly, the transfer must be done in person
You cannot submit the documents for the transfer by post!

What to Submit 
- Application form
- Travel document
- Proof of accommodation
- Proof of funds for the residence (finances)
- Photograph
- Comprehensive medical insurance (information on children under the age of 18 can be found here)
- An original of a confirmation of studies or confirmation of enrolment.
- This does not apply to study visits and volunteering. For study visits please provide necessary documents stipulated by law. For volunteering please provide the agreement with the host organisation.
Upon request provide also:
- Medical report
- Document similar to an extract from the Penal Register record, issued by a country, where you have resided in the past 3 years for more than 6 months in its summary.
Upon application you must pay an administrative fee of CZK 2,500 (payable only by card).
You can track the status of your application using your reference number (provided during the appointment) on the Ministry of Interior website.
