Antigen testing to determine the presence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus causing Covid-19 will be provided free of charge to anyone insured by Czech health insurance companies according to the special measures of the Czech Ministry of Health from 18 December 2020 to 15 January 2021. Antigen testing for foreigners employed at UP who have blue or green health insurance cards will be covered by their insurance companies. It is necessary to preregister for the test; details are available at the Czech Ministry of Health website (in Czech). The reservation system at University Hospital Olomouc is available on-line here (in Czech).

The Czech Ministry of Health has also just issued new protective measures on limiting border crossings to and from the Czech Republic starting 18 December 2020 (in Czech). It is not substantially different from the prior measures; the most significant change is article III.7, where the UK has taken off the list of EU countries. As of 1 January 2021, the UK will be considered a “third country” in all respects.

Other important information for resolving residency matters for foreigners within the territory of the Czech Republic in conjunction with the coronavirus epidemic are available in English on the Czech Ministry of the Interior website.
