4. October 2021, 14:00 – 15:00

Opening of the exhibition

The exhibition „Extremes in the Jeseníky region seen by a meteorologist“ deals with extraordinary meteorological events (weather conditions) in the Jeseníky and Rychlebské hory mountains in the period 1978 – 2017 that are potential reflection of a climate change.
The visitors can be informed about the course of selected synoptic situations that are focused on meteorological extremes in the Jeseníky region. A special attention is paid to storms and associated events, very low/very high air temperatures, issues of drought, strong wind gusts (breeze), extra early snow cover in the autumn, and also very late snow cover in the spring, and others unusual meteorological phenomena.
The exhibition presents various meteorological devices and tools used in the past and the present at weather stations in the Czech Republic. Original aerological radiosonde, weather station and functional automatic weather station belong among specific exhibits that the visitors can try to use.
