Humanitarian Organisation's Development

5. November 2018 - 9. November 2018

Intensive professional course

From 4-9 November, during 5 days intense teaching at Humanitarian studies section of KKS, the Global Protection Cluster Coordinator, Simon Russell from the UNHCR Head Quarter in Geneva, will introduce the key concepts of humanitarian organisation's development based on two principles of civilian protection in emergencies: Protection is central to humanitarian action; and Protection response is timely, of high quality and relevant. The Global Protection Cluster (GPC) was established in 2005 as part of the humanitarian reform process. It is a network of UN agencies, NGOs and international organisations working on protection in conflict and disaster settings. The GPC coordinates the development of policy, standards and operational tools relating to protection in humanitarian action, including practical guidance on how to establish and manage protection coordination mechanisms. The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is the Lead Agency in the Protection Cluster.

5–9 November, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
