Are you interested in the direction the university will take in the coming years? Come and discuss them with Rector Michael Kohajda on Wednesday, 8 October, from 3 p.m. at the Fort Science. Advance registration is not required, but you can send your questions in advance using this form.

Giving Day, wellbeing and inclusion: choose your programme at Fair UP

Fair UP is a university week dedicated to health, wellbeing and openness. Monday kicks off with Donation Day, featuring the Donate Blood with the Rector challenge and a competition between faculties for the challenge cup. On Tuesday, you can look forward to Health Day with check-ups, consultations and a lecture on healthy sleep. Wednesday will bring Wellbeing Day, which will combine care for the body, soul and mind. On Thursday, the International Haná festival will enliven the Armoury/Zbrojnice, full of flavours, music, science and cultures from around the world. And the end of the week will belong to Inclusion Day, focused on diversity, equality and understanding.

PhD students can apply for the Rector's Award for an article

This year, Palacký University Rector Michael Kohajda has once again announced an award exclusively for doctoral students. Nominations for the Palacký University Rector's Honourable Mention for doctoral students for a professional article may be submitted by the relevant vice-deans and the director of the university institute until mid-November 2025. Run for the UP Dormitory Council or vote for its members

The UP Dormitory Council (in Czech) and its members are mediators between students living in UP dormitories and the UP Dormitory and Canteen Administration. You can contact them with your comments and questions, and now you can become one of these heroes yourself! You can run for membership of the UP Dormitory Council until 28 September. (in Czech) The elections will then take place online at volby.upol.cz on Tuesday, 30 September, from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Take advantage of university counselling and services for students with specific needs

The UP Support Centre for Students with Specific Needs will help you alleviate any difficulties you may encounter during your studies and work with you to set up appropriate support measures to make your university education easier. Don't hesitate to contact them – check out cps.upol.cz. 

We would also like to draw your attention to other counselling services available to you at UP – whether it be psychological counselling, career counselling, or other forms of support – you can find everything at upol.cz/counselling.

Courses offered by the Centre for Students with Specific Needs

Would you like to better understand the needs of your classmates with disabilities and contribute to a more open and welcoming environment at the university? The UP Centre for Students with Specific Needs offers short courses that will help you understand the specifics of various types of disabilities – from physical limitations to learning disorders or mental health issues. The courses will take place during the week of 13–17 October, are free of charge, and provide practical information, inspiration, and the opportunity to share opinions and experiences. (Re)present UP to the world! We are looking for new ambassadors

Would you like to present UP at a roadshow at secondary schools? Do you think you can attract new students interested in studying at Gaudeamus fairs? Or would you like to participate in various university events?

The Marketing and University Events Office is currently looking for new student ambassadors. If you are a student in at least your second year at UP and you want to spread the good name of your alma mater to the world, meet new people and improve your presentation skills, write to us at michael.kozak@upol.cz and come to an information meeting — on Thursday, 2 October at 2 p.m. at the UP Student Club (Zbrojnice courtyard) or on Friday, 3 October at 9 a.m. or 11 a.m. in the UP Audiovisual Production meeting room (entrance opposite the Coffee Library). Contribute to the collection for dogs and cats

On the occasion of International Animal Day (4 October 2025), the UP Volunteering Centre is organising a material collection to help abandoned dogs and cats. The collection is part of the Fair UP university week programme and its Day of Giving. Let's work together to help those who cannot help themselves, as well as those who care for abandoned animals with love but often with limited resources. Your donations will be given to the organisations Zastavme utrpení (Stop Suffering) and the cat shelter Pomocné ruce (Helping Hands). Detailed information can be found on the DC UP website. Do you have an idea for a programme for children? Get involved in AFO Junior!

Would you like to participate in this year's AFO Junior programme? The Academia Film Olomouc festival is looking for programmes that introduce children to science in a playful, creative and understandable way. Presentation of the book C.K. Františkova univerzita v Olomouci 1827–1860

The turbulent history of the University of Olomouc dates back to 1573. An important historical period was the era of the so-called C.K. Františkova univerzita (1827–1860). The story of this phase of Olomouc University is now told in a new historical book by Prof. Jiří Fiala and Doc. Michael Viktořík. The next edition of the conference for enterprising students and budding entrepreneurs will bring inspiration on the topic of investment and finance in business. Free or half-price admission to museums and Fort Science on Saturday

UP students and employees can visit the Regional Museum and the Olomouc Museum of Art on Saturday, 27 September, for half price or completely free of charge. All you need is your student ID or employee card. Exhibitions at the Fort Science will be free for students and employees; just present one of the above-mentioned ID cards at the entrance. Researchers’ Night in the Olomouc Region reveals the riches of science

On Friday, 26 September, the Olomouc Region will once again be transformed into one big science playground. The popular Noc vědců will take place – the largest popularisation event of its kind in the Czech Republic, offering a varied programme for children and adults in many places at once, completely free of charge. Visitors in Olomouc, Přerov, Prostějov, Přáslavice, Hlubočky, and for the first time in Jeseník, can look forward to interactive experiments, entertaining quizzes, playful workshops, surprising screenings, and lectures full of remarkable scientific stories.
