When and how to check in to UP dorms in September? Dates vary by college

It will be possible to check in to UP dorms for the upcoming academic year 2025/26 from Monday 1 September, some dorms will start accommodating later. The latest date for key collection for all is Monday 22 September. Halls of residence can only be checked in on weekdays during office hours. (Re)present UP to the world! We are looking for new ambassadors 

Do you want to present UP on a roadshow in secondary schools? Do you think you can reach new prospective students at the Gaudeamus fairs? Or would you like to participate in various university events? The Marketing and University Events department is currently looking for new student ambassadors.

If you are a student of at least the second year at UP and you are eager to spread the good name of your alma mater to the world, meet new people and push your presentation skills, email us at michael.kozak@upol.cz and come to the information meeting at the UP Student Club (courtyard of the Armoury/Zbrojnice) on Monday, August 25 at 10:00 or Monday, September 1 at 10:00 or 13:00. Nominate volunteers for the Rector's Award

Do you know a colleague, student, alumnus or alumna who is not indifferent to the world around them and willing to lend a helping hand? Then do not hesitate to nominate such a person for the Rector's Award for Volunteers from among students, graduates and staff of Palacký University for 2024. You have the opportunity until 31 August 2025, through the nomination questionnaire. Details and the form can be found on the UP Volunteering Centre website. (in Czech)

The exhibition Sustainability and Civilization will also present Olomouc science

The travelling exhibition Sustainability and Civilization (in Czech), which is the third part of the cycle of author's exhibitions by Egyptologist Miroslav Bárta, will be on display in Olomouc's Lower Square from 15 August. The large-format panels show that sustainability is not just a word, but depends on a responsible attitude of each of us and respect for the environment in which we live. Scientists from the Czech Institute of Research and Advanced Technologies (CATRIN) UP have also contributed to its preparation. The exhibition will be freely accessible until 4 September and thanks to the illumination of the solar energy panels it will also be visible in the evening.

Guided tour of the exhibition in the University Botanical Garden

Summer flowers as far as the eye can see. This is how one could describe August in the Botanical Garden of the FS UP – especially this year, when the cooler July provided the plants with the necessary moisture. Have you been to see it yet? It's worth it! On weekdays from 8 am to 6 pm, the garden offers not only colourful views but also cool shade in the middle of the hot city.

In addition, until the end of August, you will find an exhibition of anthropomorphic wooden objects by the artist Jan Zemánek with the poetic title If only the bench had spoken (in Czech). On Monday 25 August at 5 pm you can also come here for a guided tour.
