Dear alumni,

Welcome to the first edition of the Palacký University Alumni Newsletter.

We are delighted to launch this new way of staying in touch with our alumni community in the Czech Republic and around the world. In each edition, we will share university updates, alumni news, invitations to events, inspiring stories, practical information, and selected benefits and opportunities for our graduates.

Stay Connected 

As a graduate of Palacký University Olomouc, you are part of our global alumni community. Whether you completed a full degree at UP or joined us as a short-term student through a programme such as Erasmus+, we would love to stay in touch after your studies.

By registering for the UP Alumni Programme, you can stay informed, enjoy a range of benefits, and remain connected with the university wherever you are.

The programme also includes Alumni Club, a space where graduates can reconnect with classmates, meet fellow alumni, and build new personal and professional connections across the UP community. Stay in touch, share memories, and become part of an active alumni network.

Applications Still Open for English-Taught Programmes

There is still time to apply for selected degree programmes taught in English at Palacký University.

Interested in joining Palacký University through Erasmus+ in the summer semester of the 2026/2027 academic year?

Please note that the nomination deadline is 15 October 2026, while the application deadline is 31 October 2026.

Upcoming Events

September Alumni Homecoming 2026

11-13 September

September 2026 at Palacký University will be dedicated to our graduates - you. September Alumni Homecoming will offer a varied programme of activities and get-togethers prepared by UP faculties especially for their alumni.

The main weekend will take place on 11–13 September 2026 in Olomouc. Visitors can look forward to a programme connected with the European Heritage Days, open historical sites, faculty activities, concerts, talks with interesting guests, and special offers from our partners.

Academia Film Olomouc (AFO)

28 April - 3 May

The 61st International Festival of Science Documentary Films will take place in Olomouc from 28 April to 3 May 2026.

Organised by Palacký University since 1966, AFO has grown into one of the leading science festivals in Europe. The festival features documentary films, discussions, lectures, and events focused on science, technology, society, and current global issues.

Olomouc Majáles UP

6-7 May

The traditional student spring festival Olomouc Majáles UP 2026 will take place on 6–7 May 2026 at Letňák Olomouc.

The festival will offer two days of music, theatre, slam poetry, workshops, talks, and presentations by more than 70 student and non-profit organisations. The programme will also include the traditional crowning of the Majáles King or Queen.

Researchers’ Night

25 September

Researchers’ Night is a Europe-wide celebration of science, bringing research closer to the public in an engaging and accessible way. Taking place on 25 September 2026, the event sees universities, research centres, and other institutions open their doors to visitors with guided tours, workshops, experiments, presentations, and performances.
