Survival Czech Course
Free course offered to Erasmus students
This is a short four days' course organized during the orientation week. It's intended for real beginners to teach them basic phrases, to let them understand regards, requests, formulate simple questions used in an everyday contact with Czech people.
To participate in the Survival Czech Course students have to register in advance, a registration form is sent to all students.
Participants of the survival course are offered to continue in a semester course.

Czech Language Course
Palacký University offers to Erasmus students a Course of Czech for Foreigners during the academic year for free. The course starts at the beginning of each semester. Students are divided into courses according to their knowledge. To evaluate your knowledge and to assign you to a course on an appropriate level, you will be asked to write a placement test. There are always courses for beginners, intermediate and advanced learners. Students who regularly attend the course, fulfill academic requirements and pass a final exam are granted 5 credits for the semester course.
Up-to-date information regarding placement test, teachers, classrooms etc. is provided during the orientation week.
Apart of Czech courses specially designed for Erasmus exchange students, there are tailor-made Czech courses for prospective international students organized by the Centre of Distance Learning of the Philosophical Faculty.

Czech for Foreigners
The courses of Czech language for foreigners are organized by the Department of the Distance Learning, which is a part of the Philosophical Faculty. The Department of Czech Studies (www.kb.upol.cz) guarantees professional Czech language education for foreigners at Palacky University; a field guarantee: Mgr. Darina Hradilová, PhD. (darina.hradilova(at)upol.cz). The courses are taught in English, German, Russian and Czech. The Department is able to offer you a large variety of courses according to your specific demands. The Basic Czech Course aims to quickly provide a communicative competence in Czech. You will be provided with textbooks and other teaching materials. At the end of your course you can take a Certificate Exam specifying the level of your knowledge at levels recognized within the EU. Palacky University can reserve dormitory accommodation for you.
Intensive Czech Course for students intending to study at a Czech university (260 lessons)
Taught either in small groups or as a One-to-One Course. You can use the library, computer halls and other facilities at University. The Course is suitable for complete Beginners, ”False“ beginners, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate and Advanced students, and can be taught in English.
- One semester (13 weeks / 20 lessons a week / 260 lessons a semester):
1 student … CZK 340.000,-
2-3 students … CZK 172.000,- a student
4-5 students … CZK 87.000,- a student - Two semesters (26 weeks / 10 lessons a week / 260 lessons a year):
1 student … CZK 340.000,-
2-3 students … CZK 172.000,- a student
4-5 students … CZK 87.000,- a student
One year Intensive Language Course for students intending to study at a Czech university (520 lessons)
In all other respects, the same as the Super-Intensive Course. The lessons and the cost are shared among 2-5 students if they apply together for the same level of course (i.e. Beginners, Intermediate). Please note that the Department stipulates the possibility of raising the individual fee if all the initial applicants do not start the course.
- Two semesters (26 weeks / 20 lessons a week / 520 lessons a year):
2-3 students … CZK 340.000,- a student
4-5 students … CZK 172.000,- a student
One year Course for Organized Groups (from Beginner to Advanced levels)
The course is intended for pre-organized groups from one country, not for individual students.
- Two semesters (26 weeks / 520 lessons):
6-10 students … CZK 113.000,- a student
11-15 students … CZK 62.000,- a student - Two semesters (26 weeks / 650 lessons):
11-15 students … CZK 78.000,- a student

Summer School of Slavonic Languages
The Summer School of Slavonic Languages (SSSL) at the Philosophical Faculty of Palacký University in Olomouc organizes courses of Czech language for foreigners and also other courses in Slavonic languages, Russian language or Polish language in particular, for students from other countries. The Summer School is designed for professors, senior lecturers, lectors and students of Czech language and literature or Slavonic studies, translators, journalists and people from the general public interested in Czech language, literature, history, and culture. The programme comprises also courses for beginners. English and Czech are communicative languages used according to students’ level. The lessons are complemented with additional events – film club, theatre workshop, workshop of folklore dances, two one-day trips and a weekend trip to Prague, etc.
