Olomouc Medical Faculty Best in the Czech Republic
Palacký University medical students have overwhelmingly supported their faculty in a survey called Faculty of the Year to give it the top position in a ranking of all Czech medical faculties.
The Czech Student Union, the largest network of student organisations and unions in the Czech Republic, awarded The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at Palacký University with the title Faculty of the Year 2011/2012. The honour was awarded based on a vote by university students.
'It is a great honour for us, and a challenge for constant improvement of our teaching as well as our way of working with students,' said Dean Milan Kolář. 'The faculty has been long trying to be student-friendly. This result proves that we have taken the right course,' added the Dean.
While there are countless criteria for programme evaluations, the survey Faculty of the Year is the only one conducted solely by students. Veronika Jančíková, President of the Czech Medical Students Association, emphasized, 'The medical faculty in Olomouc has received this award particularly due to its support of its students.'
In second place was the Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen (a branch of Charles University in Prague) and third place went to the Third Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague.
Voting for the current academic year started November 6, 2012.
