BALUO Centre Receives €4.8 Million

Autor: Martin Višňa

The Centre for Kinanthropology Research

The Centre for Kinanthropology Research, which will be focused on the implementation of research findings about human movement into practice, will be built in Olomouc-Neředín. Its construction, costing €6.4 million, is the largest strategic change in the history of the Palacký University Faculty of Physical Culture.

The centre, whose title is an acronym for the English phrase ‘Bases of Application Life Utilities Olomouc’, will be open to commercial research as well. ‘The project of BALUO Application Centre will become, as the first in Central Europe, an environment for development and innovation of industrial production designed to facilitate the movement activities of the wide public and to develop a healthy life-style,’ says Zbyněk Svozil, Dean of the Faculty of Physical Culture.

The companies will be able to use the research and testing premises, which are equipped with modern technologies and cybernetic applications of findings from kinanthropology.

’The main premises of the centre will contain a testing sports hall and a testing water-filled pool. Furthermore, prototype workshops and offices will be available,’ enumerates the faculty secretary Pavel Král. He assumes that the construction could begin during the autumn of this year.

The total costs for the centre’s construction and equipment are €6.4 million. ‘At the end of last week, the official decision was issued, granting us a €4.8 million contribution from the Operational programme Enterprise and Innovation. The remaining €1.6 million will be covered from the Palacký University budget,’ added Král.

In the future, the application centre should be connected with the existing building of the Centre for Kinanthropology Research, whose renovation and completion is another important step in the development plan of the faculty and the future Neředín campus.

More information on the future appearance of Neředín campus and its contents can be seen in this video about the project, available here.
